OUTSTANDING AND HIGHLY SOUGHT AFTER GERMAN MAUSER K98K LATE WAR TURRET SNIPER RIFLE. MAUSER 98K SNIPER 10414F 8 MM MODERN; C&R Cal. 8mm. This is a very late war turret sniper rifle as issued to snipers when they went to sniper school and carried by that sniper from that day on. Manufactured at "Mauser/Oberndorf" with final inspection eagle over 135 on left side of receiver band. Rings are SN 5934 and do not match rifle. Exhibits Kriegsmodel screw on bands, no bayonet lug, shortened sniper safety, and cupped buttplate marked "brg" (H.W. Schmidt Metalwaren). All numbers are matching and orig nothing has been altered in any way since it left the factory. Stock not numbered externally, nor any cartouches visible. Scope is an Ajack 4 X 90, SN 51799. Orig sling and sight hood present. CONDITION: Overall finish and appearance simply outstanding near mint with some brassing and loss of finish at both ends of the scope with some mottling to the gray of the buttplate. Rifle and scope are in excellent condition, probably picked up at a Depot or training school by a U.S. GI. Wood stock has some slight handling marks. Solder of scope bases visible which is a testament to the originality. These guns were made to be used, not for collectors. Bore is perfect, shiny and bright. Optics are clear. Impossible to upgrade this specimen. If you are fortunate enough to own it, you need not look at another. 50821-5 JWK63 (15,000-20,000)
