VERY FINE AND UNUSUAL WOODWARD ROUND ACTION OVER-UNDER GAME GUN WITH HIGH QUALITY NEW CASE AND ACCESSORIES. WOODWARD OU ROUND ACTION 7134 12GA MODERN; C&R Cal. 12 ga. 2-3/4" Chambers. 27" Demi-bloc bbls are fitted with narrow, file cut, solid rib. Left side of top bbl is engraved with Woodward's name and Bury Street London address. Right side of top bbl and flat of bottom bbl are stamped with London nitro proofs for 2-1/2" chambers. Case hardened, round bodied, Woodward OU action features automatic safety (SAFE inlaid in gold), gold band tumbler end cocking indicators, and dbl triggers. Action is engraved with well cut Woodward house style rose and scroll. "J. Woodward & Sons" is in classic parchment scroll flanked device on each side of action. Bottom of action is engraved "Woodward's" "Patent" "Under & Over". Very fine, beautifully marbled and attractively figured European walnut straight grip buttstock measures 14-5/8" over checkered wood butt, and features classic drop points, flawlessly executed point pattern checkering with mullered borders, and a silver oval on toe line engraved "RBA". Matching one piece ejector forend has Anson type release. Bore diameter: top -.729, bottom - .728. Bore restrictions: top - .018 (mod), bottom - .006 (IC). Wall thickness: top - .015 (left side of top bbl about 10" back from muzzle, right side minimum .032), bottom - .020. Drop at heel: 2-1/16", drop at comb: 1-3/8". Cast off approx 1/4". Weight: 6 lbs. 14 oz. LOP: 14-5/8". Very fine high quality oak and leather case with brass corners and circular brass central medallion, has brown canvas leather trimmed outer cover with central label gold embossed "ROBERT B. ARTHUR". Interior is lined in scarlet cloth and has reproduction Woodward label in lid. Case is semi-French fitted for gun and bbls, and fully French fitted for a number of fine ebony handled and brass accessories, mostly Woodward marked, including vaseline jar, snap caps, oil bottle, chamber brush, 2 turnscrews, dusting brush, and cleaning rod with brush, jag, and mop in covered compartment, which also holds the key. PROVENANCE: Letter from Purdeys confirming orig specifications, and notes with measurements. CONDITION: Excellent, near new, as expertly and correctly refurbished. All metal parts have a sympathetic and correct very light refinish, with best London blacked bbls and St. Leger quality colors. Buttstock appears to be an exceptional factory quality reproduction faithful to orig specifications. Forend has been refinished to match, checkering re-cut. Bores are excellent. Action is tight. Bbls are on face. Ejectors are strong and in time. Case leather is excellent, essentially as new, as protected by its outer cover, which has some very slight soiling and rubs. Interior cloth is excellent, with some light rubs and soiling. Accessories are excellent. 50623-3 mgm18 (40,000-60,000)
