VERY ATTRACTIVE, FINELY REFURBISHED, EARLY HENRY ATKIN SIDELOCK EJECTOR GAME GUN WITH GOLD INLAY AND CASE.HENRY ATKINSxS120212GAMODERN; C&RCal. 12 ga. 2-3/4" Chambers. 28" Chopper lump bbls with narrow, swamped game rib, are gold inlaid "Henry Atkin" on top of right bbl, and engraved "61. Pall Mall. St. James's. London. England." on left. Bbl flats are stamped with 1984 London nitro proofs for 2-3/4" chambers. SNs are on bottoms of bbls. Case hardened sidelock action is stocked to the fences, and features automatic safety (SAFE inlaid in gold), gold plated internals, and dbl triggers. Action and lockplates are engraved with near full coverage well cut, small scroll. There is gold line border engraving around backs of lockplates, fences, top tang, top lever, and around trigger plate. "Henry Atkin" is gold inlaid on scrolled riband on each lockplate, and again on bottom of action over "From" "Purdey's". This light use of gold sets off fine case hardening colors very well. Bow of trigger guard also has some gold line inlay, and SN is in gold on tang. What appears to be very high quality re-stock using nicely marbled and lightly figured European walnut measures 14-3/4" over checkered wood butt, and has straight grip, drop points, point pattern checkering, and a silver oval on toe line engraved "RBA". Matching splinter ejector forend has Anson release. Bore diameter: left -.728, right - .726. Bore restrictions: left - .020 (mod), right - .008 (IC). Wall thickness: left - .030, right - .035. Drop at heel: 1-3/4", drop at comb: 1-3/8". Cast off approx 1/4". Weight: 6 lbs. 12 oz. LOP: 14-3/4". High quality leather motor case with stitched leather corners, is gold embossed "ROBERT B. ARTHUR" on front. Case is lined in burgundy cloth, and contains a key. CONDITION: Excellent, as completely refurbished. Bbls appear to be newly made, and retain nearly all of a very fine London quality black. Action retains 95 - 98% re-color hardening, engraving slightly softened. Nicely blued top lever and trigger guard have slight sharp edge silvering. Stocks have only a few minor marks in their excellent orig finishes. Bores are excellent. Action is tight. Bbls are on face. Ejectors are strong and in time. Case is excellent, with a few minor marks in leather and some re-blocking of interior. A handsome Henry Atkin gun ready for another century of enjoyment. 50623-16 mgm26 (12,000-18,000)
