SUPERB SMALL BORE FABBRI PINLESS SIDELOCK OVER-UNDER SHOTGUN WITH EXCEPTIONAL DRAMATIC QUAIL SCENE ENGRAVING BY "CREATIVE ART" AND CASE.FABBRIOUE96520GAMODERNCal. 20 ga. 3" Chambers. 28" Demi-bloc bbls with matted, solid rib are engraved "IVO FABBRI - BRESCIA" and "FABBRI CRS 2002 STEEL" on top bbl either side of rib. Bbl flat is stamped with 2006 Italian nitro proofs for 3" chambers. Coin finished, low profile, Fabbri action with pinless sidelocks, has disassembly screws located under small trap doors at top of each lockplate, and features non-automatic safety (SAFE inlaid in gold), and single non-selective trigger. Action and lockplates are engraved with 80% coverage well cut, small scroll surrounding truly exceptional bulino renderings of quail and dogs; pair of pointers, one pointing, the other honoring, on left lockplate as a pair of quail flush. Detailed background is of high mountains and dramatic sky. Right lockplate portrays what appear to be the same dogs, pointing and honoring another pair of quail, with picket fence and conifers in background. A covey of quail have taken flight and are "in-your-face" on bottom of action. This particular scene is signed "Torcoli" on large blade of grass. "IVO FABBRI" is gold inlaid on bottom sides of action and above quail scene on bottom. This wonderful engraving, with very realistic, almost photographic renderings of dogs and birds, is signed "Creative Art" on trigger plate. Scroll engraved, small bow trigger guard has SN in gold on tang. Beautifully marbled and burl figured, flesh-toned, European walnut round knob pistol grip buttstock measures 14-5/8" over checkered wood butt. Well cut point pattern checkering is at grip. Matching one piece forend has Anson type release in slightly wrapped forend tip. Bore diameter: top -.620, bottom - .621. Bore restrictions: top - .011 (mod), bottom - .012 (mod). Drop at heel: 2-3/16", drop at comb: 1-3/8". Cast off approx 5/8". Weight: 6 lbs. 1 oz. LOP: 14-5/8". High quality tan leather case has stitched leather corners by Nizzoli, with label under removable compartment lid. Case is lined in burgundy cloth, with Fabbri paper label in lid. Case is French fitted for action, bbls, and forend, as well as for accessories (which are not present). CONDITION: Excellent, with only the faintest of firing halos on breechfaces, and the lightest of handling and assembly marks on wood and metal. Case leather shows some darkening, light water marks, and light scuffs. Straps and handle are excellent. Interior is excellent. Ivo Fabbri makes fewer than 25 guns per year at the pinnacle in quality, with new guns starting at approx 100,000 euros without engraving. 50401-5 mgm40 (40,000-60,000)
