EXQUISITE FABBRI SMALL BORE SIDELOCK EJECTOR SINGLE TRIGGER GAME GUN WITH "MAJESTIC" ENGRAVING BY TOMASONI WITH CASE. FABBRI SXS E604 20 GA MODERN (1982) Cal. 20 ga. 2-3/4" Chambers. 27-1/2" Beautifully struck chopper lump bbls with slightly raised, flat, matted rib, are engraved "ARMI FABBRI BRESCIA ITALY" and "MADE ESPECIALLY FOR J. C. MARTIN III" on top of left bbl, and "VACUUM ARC REMELTING STEEL" on right. Bbl flats are stamped with 1982 Italian nitro proofs. Small sized, coin finished, sidelock action features non-automatic safety (SAFE engraved), line engraved tumbler end cocking indicators, and single non-selective trigger. Action and lockplates are engraved in "Majestic" pattern consisting of near full coverage semi-relief large scrolling acanthus with floral highlights surrounding interesting mythological sphinx-like beast, with scroll emanating from mouth on lockplates, and with a pair of angels either side of trigger plate on bottom of action, which also has makers name in shield device. This type of engraving was originated by Claudio Tomasoni. His signature appears on the trigger plate of this fine gun. The scroll continues onto small trigger guard bow, and SN is on tang. Striking, fiddle figured and nicely veined European walnut straight grip buttstock measures 15" over tan leather covered pad. Well cut, borderless point pattern checkering is at grip. Matching small beavertail ejector forend has Anson release. Bore diameter: left -.624, right - .624. Bore restrictions: left - .019 (Imod), right - .014 (mod). Wall thickness: left - .022, right - .022. Drop at heel: 1-15/16", drop at comb: 1-7/16". Cast: approx 1/8" on. Weight: 6 lbs. 9 oz. LOP: 15". Tan leather VC case with brass corners by Nizzoli, is lined in burgundy cloth, and contains a key. PROVENANCE: Remarkable William Larkin Moore Private Estate Collection of Fine Sporting Arms. CONDITION: Excellent. Bbls retain approx 98% orig blue, thinning somewhat from normal handling, on sides, with some sharp edge wear, and a few light marks. Coin finish of action is still mostly bright, with a few small areas of toning. There are a considerable number of very light marks and scratches in the orig finish on stocks, checkering slightly darkened. Bores are excellent. Action is tight. Bbls are on face. Ejectors are in time. Trigger works. Safety slide moves very easily (may need attention). Case leather is excellent with some light soiling and marks. Straps and handle are fine. Interior cloth is excellent with some rubs. Fabbri produces some of the finest guns in the world, with prices starting over $100,000.00. 50594-76 mgm58 (32,500-52,500)
