Two sets of 27" demi-bloc bbls engraved "ABBIATICO & SALVINELLI" on tops, have "I" or "II" gold inlaid on 2" scroll engraved Nock form at breech ends. Front bead is on small short ramp at muzzles. Bbl flat is stamped with 1995 Italian nitro proofs, SN, and "A&S". Importers name and address (Ed Hinkle, Lexington, NC) is on each bottom bbl. Coin finished, well filed, low profile, OU action fitted with pinless sidelocks (dismounting pin with hex key spring-loaded access), features non-automatic safety (SAFE engraved) and dbl triggers (front articulated). Action is engraved with near full coverage very well cut, minuscule shaded scroll by Dassa, whose signature is on trigger plate. This attractive scroll surrounds bulino game scenes by Claudio Tomasoni, whose signature is at the bottom of each scene on lockplates. Left plate depicts four chukar partridge taking wing from open hillside, and right plate depicts five mallards settling into marshy pond, grass in foreground. Bottom of action depicts a rising cock pheasant. This scene is unsigned. Single beaded trigger guard has more scroll surrounding oval with gold inlaid portrait of a grouse. SN is in gold on tang. Attractively figured and nicely marbled European walnut straight grip buttstock measures 14-5/16" over fully checkered wood butt. Closely spaced point pattern checkering with line borders is at grip. A gold oval on toe line is engraved "PJG". Each bbl set has its own slim, matching forend with Anson type release with "I" or "II" inlaid on tip. BBL set "I": Bore diameter: top -.729, bottom - .723. Bore restrictions: top - .008 (IC), bottom - .002 (skeet). Drop at heel: 2-1/16", drop at comb: 1-7/16". Cast: approx 1/4" off. Weight: 6 lbs. 10 oz. LOP: 14-5/16". BBL set "II": Bore diameter: top -.724, bottom - .724. Bore restrictions: top - .031 (full), bottom - .019 (mod). Drop at heel: 2-1/8", drop at comb: 1-7/16". Cast: approx 1/4" off. Weight: 6 lbs. 11 oz. LOP: 14-5/16". High quality leather two gun motor case with stitched leather corners is lined in dark green cloth, and has black leather A&S label stitched into lid. Case contains lock removal tool. CONDITION: Excellent, essentially as new, with only the faintest of handling and assembly marks on all metal and wood surfaces, with little evidence of firing since proof. Mechanically crisp.
