LOVELY LITTLE 20 GAUGE ABBIATICO & SALVINELLI "VENERE EXTRA LUSSO" SIDELOCK EJECTOR GAME GUN WITH FINE SCROLL BY GOLDANI AND SUPERB BULINO GAME SCENES BY BREGOLI.ABBIATICO $ SALVINELLISXS55720GAMODERNCal. 20 ga. 2-3/4" Chambers. This gun was made after Mario Abbiatico and Remo Salvinelli changed their numbering system, and were building some of the world's best guns. This example represents a combination of exceptional gunmaking and high quality, tasteful embellishment by two renowned masters. 26-3/4" Finely struck chopper lump bbls are fitted with narrow, concave game rib. Side of left bbl is gold inlaid "ABBIATICO & SALVINELLI". Bbl flats are stamped with makers name, A&S logos, SN and 1982 Italian nitro proofs. Rear lump is stamped with first names of craftsmen involved in the making of this fine gun; Dante, Poli, Remo (Salvinelli), Mario (Abbiatico), and Tony. Coin finished, sidelock action is nicely filed and features non-automatic safety (S inlaid in gold), bushed strikers, slight reinforce to action, and single non-selective trigger. Action is engraved with about 80% coverage beautifully cut small shaded scroll surrounding fine bulino scene of covey of quail flying toward viewer from large conifers, on bottom of action. Left lockplate has scene with considerable depth of field. A covey of quail are taking wing at rear, flying toward pine trees, while another trio in distance beyond a cliff are at front of plate. Right plate depicts another covey of quail flying past pine trees. This fine work is by Alfredo Bregoli, whose signature is at the bottom front of left lock scene and at bottom right of bottom action scene. Bruno Goldani's signature is on trigger plate. Single beaded trigger guard has scroll matching that on action. SN is in gold on tang. Striking, beautifully marbled and lightly stump figured flesh-toned European walnut straight grip buttstock measures 14-3/8" over checkered wood butt, and features drop points and well cut point pattern checkering with line borders on diamond hand. Matching splinter ejector forend has Anson release, and A&S gold shield inlet on central uncheckered diamond. Bore diameter: left -.622, right - .622. Bore restrictions: left - .015 (mod), right - .012 (Lt mod). Drop at heel: 1-7/8", drop at comb: 1-5/16". Cast: approx 1/4" off. Weight: 5 lbs. 7 oz. LOP: 14-3/8". CONDITION: Excellent, close to new, with a hint of silvering on sharp edges, and a few very light marks on bbls. Coin finish of action remains clean and clear. There are a few light marks in orig stock finish which is thinning a bit on sharp edges. Checkering at grip is slightly darkened. There are very light firing halos on breechfaces. Bores are excellent. Action is tight. Ejectors are strong and in time. Trigger works. A remarkably fine gun. 50819-19 MGM192 (25,000-35,000)
