NICE, BEAUTIFULLY MATCHED, PAIR OF ABBIATICO & SALVINELLI "ZEUS" ROUND BODY BOXLOCK EJECTOR GAME GUNS WITH CASE. A&S SXS ZEUS PAIR 911/ 912 12GA, 12GA MODERN (1990) Cal. 12 ga. 27" Chopper lump bbls are gold inlaid "1" or "2" at breech ends of concave, swamped game ribs, as well as on top levers, and forend tips, denoting a matched pair. Sides of left bbls are marked "Abbiatico & Salvinelli". Bbl flats are stamped with 1990 Italian nitro proofs, SNs, and "A&S". Round bodied, case hardened, boxlock actions feature non-automatic safeties (SAFE inlaid in gold) and dbl triggers (fronts articulated). Actions are understated, very nicely filed, but with only geometric border engraving with some feather engraving around pins and on screw heads. "Abbiatico & Salvinelli" is in scrolled ribands on sides of actions, and "ZEUS" is on ribbons on trigger plates. Single beaded trigger guards have SNs inlaid in gold on tangs. Finely matched, well marbled, and nicely figured European walnut straight grip buttstocks measure 14-7/8" over thin brown Decelerator pads. Closely spaced point pattern checkering with mullered borders is at grips. Vacant gold ovals are on toe lines. Matching splinter ejector forends have Anson releases. Gun no. High quality dark brown leather two gun case with stitched leather corners, most likely by Nizzoli, but unmarked, is lined in dark green velvet, and has previous owners address slightly visible in lid. CONDITION: Excellent, with evidence of limited field use, with a few minor marks and rubs in all orig finishes on wood and metal. Bores are excellent. Actions are tight. Bbls are on face. Ejectors are strong and in time. Case leather has a number of scuffs and scratches. Straps and handle are good. Interior cloth has some rubs and light soiling. Label has been removed from lid.
