28 GAUGE TWO BARREL SET ABBIATICO & SALVINELLI SIDELOCK EJECTOR SINGLE TRIGGER OVER-UNDER GAME GUN WITH RELIEF ENGRAVING BY C. ROGER BLEILE AND CASE. ABBIATICO & SALVINELLI O/U 622 28/ 20 GA MODERN Cal. 28 ga. 2-3/4" Chambers. 26" Demi-bloc bbls are fitted with raised, ventilated ribs, and rear portions are gold inlaid "I" and "II" to differentiate choke. Left sides of top bbls are gold inlaid "Abbiatico & Salvinelli". There are 2-1/2" of large open scroll at breech ends. Bottom flats are stamped with "A&S", SN, and 1985 Italian nitro proofs. Craftsmen's names are stamped on front portions: Dante, Mario, Poli, Remo, and Tony. Scaled down, low profile, OU sidelock action features non-automatic safety (SAFE inlaid in gold) and single non-selective trigger. Action is engraved with unusual heavy semi-relief carved large acanthus scroll with shaded background surrounding a stylized coiled dragon holding a halberd, on bottom of action. Lockplates, with more acanthus at fronts, have central vignettes of predators and birds also in semi-relief; bobcat mauling a ruffed grouse is on left lock, and a weasel ravaging the back of a squawking pheasant is on right. Matching scroll, but not in relief, is on small bow single beaded trigger guard, surrounding a flying woodcock. SN is at grip. Top lever is carved and thumbpiece is pierced and carved in acanthus motif. "51" (significance unknown) is on top strap under top lever. Engravers signature, "C. Bleile" is on trigger plate (noted American engraver and author of AMERICAN ENGRAVERS OF THE 21ST CENTURY, by "C. Roger Bleile"). Nicely marbled and figured flesh-toned European walnut straight grip buttstock measures 14-1/2" over checkered wood butt, with engraved steel heel and toe plates, and features drop points and well cut borderless point pattern checkering on diamond hand. Each bbl set has its own dedicated matching ejector forend with modified Anson release with central slide in the form of A&S crest, and are stamped "I" or "II" in bbl channel in front of iron. BBL set "I": Bore diameter: top -.567, bottom - .570. Bore restrictions: top - .017 (mod), bottom - .004 (IC). Drop at heel: 2-1/4", drop at comb: 1-3/8". Cast: approx 3/8" off. Weight: 5 lbs. 8 oz. LOP: 14-1/2". BBL set "II": Bore diameter: top -.558, bottom - .558. Bore restrictions: top - .029 (full), bottom - .020 (mod). Drop at heel: 2-1/4", drop at comb: 1-3/8". Cast: approx 3/8" off. Weight: 5 lbs. 9 oz. LOP: 14-1/2". Brown leather case with stitched leather corners by Nizzoli is lined in scarlet velvet and has brown A&S label stitched into lid. Case is semi french fitted for action and both sets of bbls, and contains spare mainsprings and strikers in covered compartment. CONDITION: Excellent, very near to new, appears unfired since proof, with only a few very minor handling and assembly marks in all orig factory finishes. Mechanically crisp. Case is excellent with a couple of minor marks. Interior is very slightly soiled, and has compressions. 50819-11 MGM189 (20,000-30,000)
