FINE 20 GAUGE FAMARS "EXCALIBUR" OVER-UNDER GAME GUN WITH FINE ENGRAVING BY VENZI, WITH CASE. A&S OU EXCALIBUR F0270 20 GA MODERN Cal. 20 ga. 2-3/4" Chambers. 29" Mono-bloc bbls are engraved "Famars ITALY" on left side of top bbl beside solid, matted rib. Bbl flat is stamped with 2000 Italian nitro proofs, SN, and "A&S". Coin finished, low profile, OU action with removable trigger / firing group, features automatic safety and single non-selective trigger. Action is engraved with near full coverage very well cut, shaded, large, open scroll with acanthus highlights. This fine scroll surrounds action packed Bulino scene of a flushing cock pheasant on bottom, which is under "EXCALIBUR" "FAMARS" on riband. Ornamental sideplates have more scroll flanking Bulino scenes; trio of quail flushing over meadow on left, and a trio of woodcock erupting through alders on right. This fine engraving is signed "Venzi" on side of trigger housing mortise. Nicely streaked and somewhat marbled and figured European walnut straight grip buttstock measures 14-1/4" over serrated wood butt, and features drop points, as well as point pattern checkering with line borders. Matching one piece slim forend has Anson type release but with button in central position similar to a Deeley release. Bore diameter: top -.621, bottom - .623. Bore restrictions: top - .016 (mod), bottom - .008 (IC). Drop at heel: 2-3/16", drop at comb: 1-3/8". Cast: approx 1/4" off. Weight: 6 lbs. 12 oz. LOP: 14-1/4". High quality leather VC case with stitched leather corners, is lined in burgundy cloth, and contains straps. CONDITION: Excellent, showing limited careful field use, with some silvering on sharp edges and muzzles. Bbls have a few light marks. Coin finish of action still clean and bright, with some light marks. Stocks have only a few very minor marks, most notably some compressions on left side of butt near drop points. checkering still light in color. Bores are excellent. Action is tight. Bbls are on face. Ejectors are in time. Trigger seems to work. Case leather is still light in color, and has a few marks. Corners are somewhat rubbed. Handle is excellent. Interior cloth is fine, lightly soiled, with some moved and loose blocking. There are some glue marks in lid where a label has been removed. 50610-1 mgm72 (15,000-25,000)
