SUPERB SMALL GAUGE PIOTTI "PACHMAYR EXTRA" TWO BARREL SET SIDELOCK EJECTOR GAME GUN ENGRAVED WITH FINE GAME SCENES AND GOLD INLAY BY BALNEARI WITH CASE. PIOTTI SXS PACHMAYR 8383 28 GA MODERN Cal. 28 ga. 2-3/4" Chambers. 26" and 28" Chopper lump bbls with slightly raised, matted ribs, are gold inlaid "1" or "2" at breech ends. Left sides of bbls are engraved "Flli PIOTTI ITALY". Bbl flats are stamped with SNs and 1986 Italian nitro proofs. Bottoms of bbls are stamped with choke information and engraved with grade and importers name and address (WLM Westlake, CA). Small sized coin finished sidelock action features non-automatic safety (S inlaid in gold) and single non-selective trigger with stippled finger blade. Action is engraved with 80% coverage nicely cut small scroll as background for floral bouquets. This fine scroll surrounds bulino portrait of pointer retrieving a woodcock on bottom of action. Sidelocks, devoid of scroll, are fully engraved with well done game scenes, major subjects flush gold inlaid; a group of 3 pigeons fly low over open meadow on left lockplate, and three quail take wing from hedgerow on right. This fine engraving is signed "Balneari" on front of lockplates, and under bottom scene. "Flli PIOTTI" is gold inlaid on left side of action under lockplate, and a crown is in gold on top lever. Matching single beaded small bow trigger guard has SN on tang. Beautifully marbled and nicely flame figured, flesh-toned European walnut full pistol grip buttstock measures 14-1/2" over checkered wood butt, and features diamond grip with closely spaced point pattern checkering. A gold oval on toe line is engraved "DONATED TO DUCKS UNLIMITED BY NAN AND FRANK PACHMAYR". Matching beavertail forend with Anson release has inlet gold Piotti crest on uncheckered central diamond. 26" BBLS: Bore diameter: left -.556, right - .556. Bore restrictions: left - .025 (full), right - .014 (mod). Drop at heel: 2-1/16", drop at comb: 1-1/2". Cast: approx 1/4" on. Weight: 5 lbs. 6 oz. LOP: 14-1/2". 28" BBLS: Bore diameter: left -.556, right - .557. Bore restrictions: left - .035 (extra full), right - .018 (mod). Drop at heel: 2-1/16", drop at comb: 1-1/2". Cast: approx 1/4" on. Weight: 5 lbs. 6 oz. LOP: 14-1/2". Dark leather case with stitched leather corners by Nizzoli is lined in dark olive felt. Black Piotti label is stitched in lid. There is space for action and both sets of bbls. Case contains proof certificate and key. PROVENANCE: Remarkable William Larkin Moore Private Estate Collection of Fine Sporting Arms. CONDITION: Excellent, near new, showing little evidence of having been fired, and retaining essentially all fine factory finishes on wood and metal, with only a few faint handling and assembly marks.
