FAST HANDLING PIOTTI "MONACO 3 EXTRA" SIDELOCK SINGLE TRIGGER LIGHTWEIGHT GAME GUN WITH CASE. PIOTTI SXS MONACO 7994 12 GA MODERN (1983) Cal. 12 ga. 26" Chopper lump bbls are engraved "Flli PIOTTI - GARDONE V.T." on concave, swamped game rib. Bbl flats are stamped with 1983 Italian nitro proofs for 2-3/4" chambers, SN, and early Piotti logo. Bottoms of bbls are engraved "ACCIATO SIAU U.M.6." (steel type) and grade. Narrow bar coin finished sidelock action features automatic safety (S inlaid in gold), bushed strikers, line engraved tumbler end cocking indicators, and single non-selective trigger. Action is engraved with near full coverage well cut small scroll with rose bouquet highlights surrounding interesting Bulino scene on bottom of action of a peregrine falcon lacerating the back of a cock pheasant, feathers flying. Lockplates are engraved to the edges with other well done Bulino scenes of game; a covey of grouse fly over open moorland on left side, and a group of quail are flying in over a vineyard on right. Top lever is gold inlaid with a crown. Small bow beaded trigger guard has matching scroll with initials "EM" inlaid in gold on bow. SN is in gold on tang. This very fine engraving is signed "L Venzi" on trigger plate. Exceptionally well marbled and lightly figured European walnut straight grip buttstock measures 14-1/2" over checkered wood butt, and features standard drop points and point pattern checkering. Matching splinter ejector forend has Anson release, and gold Piotti logo is inlet on central uncheckered diamond. Bore diameter: left -.728, right - .727. Bore restrictions: left - .028 (IMod), right - .009 (IC). Drop at heel: 2-5/16", drop at comb: 1-1/2". Cast: approx 1/4" on. Weight: 5 lbs. 8oz. LOP: 14-1/2". Brown leather case with stitched leather corners by Nizzoli is lined in dark olive felt, with gold embossed leather Piotti label stitched into lid. Case contains a key. PROVENANCE: Remarkable William Larkin Moore Private Estate Collection of Fine Sporting Arms. CONDITION: Excellent, near new, with scant evidence of light field use, with a few minor handling and assembly marks in all fine factory finishes. Only the faintest of halos can be found on breechface. Case leather shows quite a few marks and scuffs. Straps and handle are good. Interior cloth is excellent, with some slight soiling. A dynamic, nicely appointed, featherweight 12. 50594-109 mgm77 (22,500-37,500)
