FRANCOTTE NUMBER 30 QUALITY SIDEPLATED BOXLOCK EJECTOR HEAVY GAME GUN WITH EXTRA BARRELS. FRANCOTTE SXS 27274 12GA MODERN; C&R Cal. 12 ga. 2-3/4" Chambers. This fine, high quality, gun comes with two sets of bbls, one 30" of steel, and the other 28" Damascus. Both sets have flat, matted, pigeon ribs, and are engraved "Von Lengerke & Dettmold" "U. S. Agents New York". Bbl flats are stamped with Belgian proofs, and "NON POUR BALLE". 30" Bbls are stamped with steel type. Bottoms of bbls on both sets are stamped 2-3/4. Case hardened boxlock action with ornamental sideplates features automatic safety (SAFE inlaid in gold), crossbolted dolls head third fastener, side clips, and dbl triggers. Action is engraved in typical "Quality 30" style with near full coverage varying sized simple scroll within geometric borders. Rose bouquets and very well detailed flying pigeons are superimposed over this scroll. Both lockplates are engraved "A Francotte Maker & Patentee Liege Belgium". Finely marbled and nicely stump figured dense European walnut square knob pistol grip buttstock measures 14" over checkered horn buttplate and has closely spaced point pattern checkering with line borders at grip. Matching splinter ejector forend has Anson release. Steel 30" Bbls: Bore diameter: left -.728, right - .727. Bore restrictions: left - .029 (full), right - .028 (full). Wall thickness: left - .032, right - .034. Drop at heel: 2-5/16", drop at comb: 1-5/16". Cast: approx 1/4" off. Weight: 7 lbs. 7 oz. LOP: 14". Damascus BBLS: Bore diameter: left -.729, right - .727. Bore restrictions: left - .004 (IC), right - .001 (cyl). Wall thickness: left - .026, right - .026. Drop at heel: 2-1/4", drop at comb: 1-1/4". Cast: approx 1/4" off. Weight: 7 lbs. 2 oz. LOP: 14". CONDITION: Very fine, as partially refinished. 30" Bbls retain nearly all of a high quality rust re-blue. 28" Damascus bbls retain over 90% of their orig brown, with numerous light marks. Action and lockplates retain approx 20 - 30% of their orig case hardening color, mostly where protected. The balance is a bright silver. Stocks retain nearly all of a hand rubbed oil finish, edges slightly rounded with a few subsequent marks, checkering re-cut. Bores are excellent. Action is tight. Bbls are on face.
