HIGH QUALITY AYA "SENIOR" PURDEY TYPE SELF OPENING SIDELOCK EJECTOR GAME GUN WITH CASE. AYA SXS SENIOR 559677 12 GA MODERN (1980) Cal. 12 ga. 2-3/4" Chambers. A classic example of why one should always look at the gun, not the name. The AYA "Senior" is a very well made gun. This example features 28" chopper lump bbls with slightly raised game rib engraved with AYA name and "MADE IN SPAIN". Bbl flats are stamped with 1980 Spanish nitro proofs. Case hardened Beasley type self-opening sidelock action features automatic safety (SAFE inlaid in gold), hidden third fastener, bushed strikers, gold band tumbler end cocking indicators, and dbl triggers (front articulated). Action and lockplates are engraved in exceptionally well cut, small scroll surrounding rose bouquets in classic British style. Makers name and "Eibar" are on bottom. Blued trigger guard with somewhat larger well cut scroll, has SN on tang. Very finely marbled and lightly figured dense European walnut straight grip buttstock measures 14-1/2" over thin Silver type pad, and features Purdey style drop points, and point pattern checkering with mullered borders at grip. A gold oval on toe line is engraved "DMM". Matching splinter ejector forend has Anson release. Bore diameter: left -.724, right - .724. Bore restrictions: left - .040 (full), right - .019 (mod). Drop at heel: 2-1/16", drop at comb: 1-1/2". Cast: approx 1/4" off. Weight: 6 lbs. 13 oz. LOP: 14-1/2". Spanish tan leather case with stitched leather corners is lined in green felt and has black AYA label in lid. Case contains proof certificate and the key. PROVENANCE: Remarkable William Larkin Moore Private Estate Collection of Fine Sporting Arms. CONDITION: Excellent. Bbls retain over 98% of what appears to be orig blue. Action retains 95% orig case hardening color, silvered on bottom beads, and thinning on bottom from normal hand wear. Tang of trigger guard is considerably silvered. There are a few light scratches and marks in finish of stocks. Bores are excellent. Action is tight. Bbls are on face. Drop is down a bit. Ejectors are in time. There are some water marks in exterior leather of case, and some light scuffs. Straps and handle are fine. Interior is fine with light insect damage and some felt rubbed through from contact with action. 50594-82 MGM164 (7,500-12,500)
