NICELY MADE DEFOURNY SIDEPLATED BOXLOCK EJECTOR SINGLE TRIGGER OVER-UNDER FOUR BARREL FOUR GAUGE SHOTGUN SET WITH CASE.DEFOURNYOU CONTINENTAL ARMSNSN12/20/28/410MODERN; C&R; IVORY(ca 1956 ?) Cal. 12 ga, 20 ga, 28 ga, .410. This undoubtedly very expensive when made, finely crafted gun has four sets of nicely proportioned demi-bloc bbls with hand matted, ventilated ribs, ivory mid-beads, gold inlaid with gauge at breech ends. Breech ends are fully engraved for the first 2-1/2" with oak leaves and acorns. Left sides of bbls are engraved "A. Jos. Defourny Herstal" and with steel type, "IMPERIAL CROWN GRADE" and "MADE IN BELGIUM FOR CONTINENTAL ARMS CORPORATION N.Y." Bottoms of bbls are stamped with Belgian nitro proofs for 2-3/4" chambers (.410 bbls stamped for 3" chambers). Each bbl set has its own 3-pc ejector forend with gauge markings stamped onto top of joint. Coin finished, sideplated boxlock OU action features non-automatic safety (SAFE inlaid in gold) and single selective trigger. Action is engraved with near full coverage large open acanthus scroll with attenuated scrolling highlights surrounding game scenes; trio of ducks on trigger plate, setter and pointer surprised by pair of pheasant on left plate, with possibly the same pointer and setter pointing and honoring a trio of ducks flushing from marsh, on right plate. Fences are engraved with oak leaves matching bbls, and a gold crown is inlaid on top lever. Trigger guard bow portrays a calling auerhahn. Lightly streaked and figured European walnut steel capped pistol grip buttstock measures 14" over checkered steel buttplate, and features fancy pattern, closely spaced checkering at grip, and a vacant silver shield toward rear of toe line. As mentioned before, each bbl set has its own 3-pc matching EJECTOR forend. 12 ga bbls: Bore diameter: top -.720, bottom - .720. Bore restrictions: top - .027 (Imod), bottom - .018 (mod). Drop at heel: 2-3/4", drop at comb: 1-11/16". Cast: approx 5/8" off. Weight: 7 lbs. 0 oz. LOP: 14". 20 ga BBLS: Bore diameter: top -.625, bottom - .624. Bore restrictions: top - .023 (Imod), bottom - .013 (mod). 28 ga BBLS: Bore diameter: top -.545, bottom - .547. Bore restrictions: top - .025 (full), bottom - .028 (full). .410 BBLS: Bore diameter at muzzles: top -.390 (full?), bottom - .396 (mod?). Weight: 7 lbs. 0 oz. LOP: 14". Specially made oak and leather case with shaped brass corners and rectangular central medallion, is lined in green cloth, with space for action and all four sets of bbls. CONDITION: Excellent. Bbls retain approx 95% orig blue. Action retains essentially all of its bright coin finish. Stocks show a few light scratches and marks in its orig hand rubbed oil finish, perhaps with some oil added to butt, as it is a bit glossier than forends. Bores are excellent. Action is tight. Mechanically excellent. Case leather is considerably darkened with numerous rubs and scuffs, and water damage at one end. Handle is detached, straps missing.
