EXCEPTIONAL HIGH QUALITY SIDEPLATED BOXLOCK EJECTOR GAME GUN BY FAUKNER OF PRAGUE WITH EXCEPTIONAL CARVED FENCES. FAUKNER SXS 3116 16 GA MODERN; C&R Cal. 16 ga. 2-9/16" Chambers. 28-1/2" Dovetailed bbls with slightly raised, matted, game rib are engraved "F. Faukner & Cie" and "Prague" on tops. Bbl flats are stamped with 1913 Prague proofs, steel type, and "JEN PRO BROKY". Bottoms of bbls are stamped with remnants of what appear to be Belgian proofs with small steel logos and large steel logo with spread eagle. Boxlock action with interesting short spear pointed sideplates features automatic safety (SAFE inlaid in gold), hidden square crossbolt third fastener, side clips, and dbl triggers. Action is engraved with near full coverage minuscule scroll with rose bouquet highlights, sideplates with baskets of flowers. Fences are beautifully carved in foliate acanthus style in small scroll background. Makers name and address are at center of blued floorplate. Blued trigger guard has somewhat large scroll and more rose bouquets. Finely marbled and figured flesh toned European walnut steel capped pistol grip buttstock measures 13-7/8" over checkered wood butt with engraved steel heel and toe plates. Stock also features right hand shadow line cheekpiece, nicely carved drop points, and point pattern checkering with line borders at grip. Matching splinter ejector forend has Anson release. Bore diameter: left -.657, right - .658. Bore restrictions: left - .031 (full), right - .033 (full). Wall thickness: left - .030, right - .029. Drop at heel: 2-7/16", drop at comb: 1-7/16". Cast: approx 1/2" off. Weight: 6 lbs. 1 oz. LOP: 13-7/8". PROVENANCE: Remarkable William Larkin Moore Private Estate Collection of Fine Sporting Arms. CONDITION: Excellent. Bbls retain 85 - 90% orig blue, with considerable flecking overall, most prevalent on left bbl toward breech. Action retains 85% orig case hardening color, pleasingly silvered on fences and beads. Blued sideplates and floorplate retain nearly all of their finish. Top lever and trigger guard are lightly silvered. Stocks retain over 90% of what appears to be their orig finish with numerous marks and dents, associated with moderate field use. Checkering is lightly worn. Sling eyes have been removed from bbl and butt, with hole remaining in butt. Bottom rib has plug screws. Bores are excellent with some light striations. Action is tight. Bbls are on face.
