INCREDIBLE KRIEGHOFF "NEPTUN PRIMUS" MEISTERWERK DRILLING WITH SPECTACULAR DEEP RELIEF GAME SCENES, ACANTHUS SCROLL WITH THISTLE HIGHLIGHTS, AND CASE. KRIEGHOFF DRILLING - MEISTERWERK NEPTUN PRIMUS 80010 12 GA X 12 GA X .30-06 MODERN; C&R Cal. 12 ga x 12 ga x 30-06. 25" Mono-bloc bbls are fitted with full length flat matted rib holding pop-up U-notch rear and silver bead sourdough front, sights. Rear portions of bbls are engraved with relief scrolling acanthus. Bbl flats are stamped with German nitro proofs. Bottom bbl is marked with importers name and address (Melvin J. Hunting). Bottom of front lump has deep relief engraved thistle bloom. Coin finished, sideplated, Blitz action features sliding rifle cocking button on top tang, along with shotgun type safety at left. Other features include pin type cocking indicators, crossbolt third fastener, bushed strikers, and dbl triggers (front set). Action is nicely filed with pierced scroll top lever thumbpiece and reinforcing bolsters. Action is relief carved with full coverage very well executed scroll, with thistle foliage accents, and thistle bloom highlights. Background is nicely stippled. Bottom of action is engraved "KRIEGHOFF" "NEPTUN" on ribbon. Sideplates are also deep relief carved with game scenes, featuring a sounder (4) of hogs in various poses at edge of forest on left side; and with roe deer, one buck, two does, entering forest from small clearing, on right. This fine engraving is signed on bottom right side action "Schmidt R". Steel trigger guard has thistle engraving to match. Spectacular, brightly fiddle figured, nicely streaked and marbled European walnut pistol grip buttstock measures 14-1/4" over black composition buttplate with Krieghoff logo, and features hog-backed comb, slim shadow line right hand cheekpiece, flared rosewood grip cap, and closely spaced point pattern checkering with line borders at grip. A sling loop matching that soldered to bottom bbl, is on toe line. Matching splinter forend has Deeley type release. Bore diameter: left -.716, right - .716. Bore restrictions: left - .024 (IMod), right - .012 (Mod). Drop at heel: approx 2-5/8", drop at comb: approx 1-9/16". Cast: Neutral. Weight: 7 lbs. 15 oz. LOP: 14-1/4". Tan leather case has green canvas outer cover, and is lined in green velvet with brown leather Kriefhoff pocket in lid. Case contains bags for action and bbls, and some cleaning oils. PROVENANCE: Remarkable William Larkin Moore Private Estate Collection of Fine Sporting Arms. CONDITION: Excellent, near new, with only a few light handling and assembly marks in all of its factory finishes on wood and metal, appears essentially unfired, except for proof. Case leather is excellent, with some minor rubs. Outer cover is also rubbed. Interior cloth is very fine with some light soiling and compressions.
