STELLAR, AWARD WINNING PARKER AAHE SHOTGUN IN HIGH ORIGINAL CONDITION, WITH UNUSUAL SMALL SCROLL ENGRAVING, AND CASE. PARKER SXS AAHE 220552 12 GA MODERN; C&R; IVORY Cal. 12 ga. 2-1/2" Chambers. 1-1/2 Frame. 30" Bbls are engraved "PARKER BROS MAKERS. MERIDEN. CT. U.S.A. PEERLESS STEEL" on matted, concave top rib, ivory bead. There are 2-1/2" triangles of well cut small scroll engraving at breech ends. There is 1/8" band of geometric engraving around muzzles. Bbl flats have all correct markings including proofs, weight, Peerless steel marks, as well as SN, gauge, and frame size, on rear lump. Front lump and top of loop are damascened. Typical case hardened action with engine turned water table and breechface, has all correct patent dates and markings. Action is fitted with automatic safety (SAFE engraved) and dbl triggers (front articulated, a very scarce Parker feature) with checkered trigger blades. Action is filed with three beads around fences, and is beautifully engraved with about 80% coverage small well cut scroll. This treatment is very unusual for a Parker, with only a few examples known. "PARKER BROS" is engraved on the bottom of each side of action. Scroll engraved trigger guard has SN at grip. Finely fiddle figured and lightly streaked European walnut capped pistol grip buttstock measures 13-5/8" over skeleton buttplate with closely spaced checkering within uncheckered borders in central portion. Side panels are checkered and have fleur-di-lis drop points. Fancy grip checkering with fleur-di-lis flourishes into butt is of typical "AA" pattern. Hard rubber grip cap is inset with large gold oval with scroll border engraving, and the initials "GLH". Matching splinter ejector forend is near fully checkered and has usual steel tip and release. Iron is stamped with 1901 patent date, and is engine turned matching water table. This gun is not listed in the Parker IDENTIFICATION AND SERIALIZATION ledger. Bore diameter: left -.733, right - .733. Bore restrictions: left - .018 (mod), right - .014 (Lt mod). Wall thickness: left - .030, right - .029. Drop at heel: 2-13/16", drop at comb: 1-5/8". Cast: approx 1/4" on. Weight: 7 lbs. 8 oz. LOP: 13-5/8". Brady type VC leather case with stitched leather corners is marked "Abercrombie & Fitch" on front, and is lined in burgundy cloth with gold embossed black leather Parker Gun label in lid. Case contains 2-pc rosewood and brass cleaning rod with turks head and a round "LIGHTWOOD" oil bottle. PROVENANCE: Gold Medal Concours winner ? Orig pamphlet put out by Remington stating "America's finest shotgun joins the Remington family". Remarkable William Larkin Moore Private Estate Collection of Fine Sporting Arms. CONDITION: Extremely fine. Bbls retain approx 98% of what appears to be orig blue, which may have been darkened a bit, with evidence of some very light marks and scratches under blue. Damascening and polish on lump flats and loop appear to be orig. Action retains well over 90% orig case hardening color, slight silvering on fences and sharp edges, as well as top tang. Blue of trigger guard is considerably flaked, with silvering at grip, and probably rates 20%. Stocks retain nearly all of a rather glossy refinish over some very light marks, checkering cleaned (does not appear to have been re-cut). Bores are excellent, bright and shiny throughout. Action is tight. Bbls are on face. Ejectors are strong and in time. Case leather is excellent with a couple of minor rubs. Straps and handle are excellent. Interior cloth is dusty and has a few rubs. An exceptional high grade Parker. THE PARKER STORY estimates that 238 "AA" guns were made, 185 in 12 gauge, 121 with 30" bbls. 50594-73 mgm63 (35,000-50,000)
