PARKER "AHE" SHOTGUN WITH UNUSUAL SEMI-RELIEF ENGRAVED DOG ON FLOORPLATE AND HIGH ORIGINAL METAL CONDITION. PARKER AHE 196508 12 GA MODERN; C&R Cal. 12 ga. 2-3/4" Chambers. 2 Frame. 30" Bbls are marked with Parker's name and Meriden CT address, and "ACME STEEL", on matted game rib. Bbl flats are stamped with all correct markings. Case hardened action with all correct markings on water table, features non-automatic safety and dbl triggers. It is engraved in usual "A" style with near full coverage nicely cut varying sized scroll surrounding detailed vignettes of game birds; pair of quail on left, a pair of mallards swimming in marsh on right. Left fence is engraved with flying duck, and right with a standing pheasant. Bottom of action portrays a pointing pointer. Trigger plate is semi-relief engraved with unusual, most likely special order, exceptional portrait of spaniel bringing a quail to hand. "PARKER BROS" is on rectangle on both sides of action. Action is filed with single beads around fences, and chevron on top lever. Trigger guard with scroll on bow surrounding vacant oval, has SN on tang. Crotch figured American walnut round knob buttstock measures 14-3/8" over brown Decelerator pad. Stock has usual "A" style checkered side panels with unusual tear drop points, and fancy pattern checkering with fleur-di-lis intrusions toward comb. A gold oval with initials "IHB" is at bottom of grip. Matching splinter ejector forend is near fully checkered, and has nicely filed steel tip and usual release. Ejector patent date is on iron. This gun matches specifications as listed in the PARKER GUN IDENTIFICATION & SERIALIZATION ledger. Bore diameter: left -.730, right - .729. Bore restrictions: left - .032 (full), right - .011 (mod). Wall thickness: left - .030, right - .026. Drop at heel: 2-1/2", drop at comb: 1-3/8". Cast: Neutral. Weight: 8 lbs. 2 oz. LOP: 14-3/8". PROVENANCE: Remarkable William Larkin Moore Private Estate Collection of Fine Sporting Arms. CONDITION: Excellent, as partially refinished. Bbls retain 70 - 80% orig blue, silvered and browned at muzzles, with a myriad of minor marks, dings, and scratches overall, thinning a bit on sides. Action retains approx 50 - 60% orig case hardening color, again with a number of light scratches, silvering from normal hand wear on fences, beads, and around bottom. Stocks retain essentially all of a red-toned high quality oil refinish, checkering cleanly re-cut. Bores are excellent, lightly frosted at the end of right bbl. Action is tight. Bbls are on face. Ejectors are in time. All Parker "A" grades are scarce, with an estimated total of 306 hammerless guns, 48 12 bore with 30" Acme steel bbls. 50594-24 MGM112 (12,500-22,500)
