RARE AND DESIRABLE 28 GAUGE PARKER "DHE" SHOTGUN WITH 28" BARRELS.PARKERSXS DHE22312028 GAMODERN; C&RCal. 28 ga. 2-3/4" Chambers. 00 Frame. 28" Bbls are marked with Parkers famous Meriden CT address and "TITANIC STEEL" on matted rib. Bbl flats are stamped with all correct Parker markings including steel type and proofs. Case hardened action with all correct Parker markings on water table which is milled out with lightening cuts, features automatic safety and dbl triggers. It is engraved in "D" style with 80% coverage varying sized scroll surrounding vignettes of dogs and game; pointer on left, setter on right, and four pheasant on the trigger plate. "PARKER BROS" is on scrolled band on each side of action. Trigger guard with scroll on bow, has SN on tang. Fine beautifully marbled and nicely fiddle figured European walnut straight grip buttstock measures 14-1/8" over skeleton steel buttplate. Stock has usual "D" style side panels with lozenge shaped drop points, and point pattern checkering. A vacant gold oval is on toe line. Typical splinter ejector forend has steel tip and usual release, as well as ejector patent date on iron. This gun matches most specifications as listed in the PARKER GUN IDENTIFICATION & SERIALIZATION ledger (stock type is designated as capped pistol grip). Bore diameter: left -.555, right - .551. Bore restrictions: left - .027 (full), right - .028 (full). Wall thickness: left - .032, right - .029. Drop at heel: 2-1/2", drop at comb: 1-7/16". Cast: approx 1/2" off. Weight: 6 lbs. 1 oz. LOP: 14-1/8". PROVENANCE: Remarkable William Larkin Moore Private Estate Collection of Fine Sporting Arms. CONDITION: Very fine, as partially refurbished. Bbls retain 85 - 90% orig blue, with numerous light and heavy scratches and other marks and rubs. Most notably there are some fairly deep scratches on left side of left bbl near action, and three more toward muzzle on right bbl. Action retains 30 - 40% orig color, fairly strong where protected, but is mostly a very pleasing bright silver to gray. Buttstock retains most of an old oil finish and shows some alterations/ repairs to drop points. Both sides have this area plugged and newer wood let in. This is either an orig straight grip stock from another gun, or has been converted from a capped pistol grip to straight. Trigger guard tang has been replaced, and is nicely engraved in correct Parker style. Forend appears original, but refinished. Bores are excellent. Action is tight. Ejectors are slightly out of time. This scarce (estimated 29 made in this bbl length) little Parker would make a great quail gun. 50594-9 MGM118 (22,500-37,500)
