GORGEOUS L.C. SMITH CROWN GRADE 20 GAUGE SHOTGUN.L.C. SMITHSxS CROWN11722320GAMODERN; C&RCal. 20 ga. 28" bbls. 2-1/2" chambers. Full length matted top rib with brass front bead, tops of bbls marked "L.C. SMITH CROWN GRADE" on right, and "MADE TO ORDER BY THE HUNTER ARMS CO. INC. FULTON. N.Y." on left. Small gold ribband and engraved geometric design at breech end of rib with small wedges of scroll on sides at breech. Featherweight frame with SN and grade designation noted on water table and jeweled bbl flats. Hunter One SST, automatic ejectors, non-automatic safety. Capped pistol grip buttstock, checkered in 2-point pattern is of nicely figured American walnut with serrated lined HRBP. Splinter forearm is near fully checkered with banjo roll-type release and triangular ebony tip. Receiver is nicely engraved in typical Crown pattern with 2 setters in game scene on left and 2 pointers in game scene on right surrounded by well executed light rose and scroll engraving with "L.C. SMITH" in banner at front of lock plates. Bottom of frame is lightly rose and scroll engraved as is top of frame and beaded fences. Top lever with well executed trademark gold inlaid crown and gold "S" at back of top tang for safety. Trigger guard bow with beautiful rose and scroll engraving and SN noted at tang. Bore diameter: left - .615, right - .614. Bore restrictions: left - .017 (mod), right - .009 (light mod). Minimum wall thickness: left - .030, right - .027 . Weight: 6 lbs. 9 oz. Drop at comb: 1-9/16", drop at heel: 2-3/4". LOP: 14-7/16" from rear position sgl trigger. CONDITION: Excellent as found. Bbls retain nearly all of a very old likely factory restoration having toned and aged. Buttstock is an likely early Marlin replacement and has factory fit and age that could easily pass as orig, it retains most of its custom finish. Buttplate is excellent though ever so slightly undersized at heel. Orig forearm is very fine and retains most of its orig finish, checkering is sharp. Receiver is excellent and retains 75-80% lightly toned orig case colors. Trigger guard retains 75-80% orig high polished blue bright and strong on bow, toning at tang. Ejectors are in time. Mechanics are crisp. Trigger works well. Bores are bright and shiny, near mirror. A very pretty high grade L.C. Smith small bore. 51033-21 JSL (8,500-12,500)
