NEAT L.C. SMITH CROWN GRADE GAME GUN.L.C. SMITHCROWN GRADEFWE1590212GAMODERN; C&RCal. 12 ga. 28" bbls with 2-3/4" chambers. Full length matted top rib with steel front bead and marked on right bbl "L.C. Smith Crown Grade" and "Made to Order by the Hunter Arms Co. Inc., Fulton, NY." on left. Small lightly engraved gold bar towards breech with geometric design and scroll engraving near rib extension. Featherweight frame with water table showing SN and "C" for grade designation and same marking found on jeweled bbl flats. Capped full pistol grip buttstock checkered in 2-pt pattern with waves near comb and finished with serrated lined HRBP. Hunterone single selective trigger, automatic ejectors, non-automatic safety. Large extremely well done old replacement beavertail forearm with lightly recessed banjo roll type release that is scroll engraved. It is very possible this forearm and current buttstock are an early Marlin replacement as the quality is superb and it appears old. Receiver is beautifully engraved with pointers on right, setters on left in woods scene all surrounded by light scroll engraving and floral pattern. Both side locks marked "L.C. Smith" at front. Bottom of frame is nicely floral engraved as is trigger guard bow, tang with light scroll and SN noted. Top of frame with floral engraving and signature gold crown in top lever with light scroll engraving. Beaded fences are nicely scroll engraved with punch dot shading. Small wedge of scroll engraving extends from breech of bbls. Bore diameter: left - .729, right - .728. Bore restrictions: left - .027 (imp/mod), right - .014 (lt mod). Minimum wall thickness: left - .021, right - .028 . Weight: 7 lbs. 7 oz. Drop at comb: 1-7/16", drop at heel: 2-5/8". LOP: 14-1/4". CONDITION: Excellent overall. Bbls retain 80-90% of an old restored finish. Toned in grip area and near breech with a couple of old light scratches. Buttstock is an exceptionally well done early replacement and retains most of its custom finish. Forearm is excellent with minor handling marks and retains most of its custom finish as well. Receiver is excellent and retains approximately 40% nice orig case color, darker in protected areas, silvered on bottom. Trigger guard retains most of a very old restored blued finish. Engraving is still quite crisp and sharp throughout. Grip cap with old repaired crack and orig buttplate with repaired cracks as well. Bores are excellent. Trigger works. Ejectors are in-time. Gun is tight on-face and will make an exceptional shooter. 51026-1 JSL (5,000-8,500)
