PROVENANCE: Remarkable William Larkin Moore Private Estate Collection of Fine Sporting Arms. CONDITION: Exceptionally fine. Bbls retain virtually all of an expert quality reblack, engraving still sharp and is just starting to tone and age. Receiver retains 65-70% dark orig case colors starting to tone on bottom of frame, bright on sides. Trigger guard retains 30% of orig case hardening mostly on bow toned at tang. Buttstock and forearm are near mint as restored with sharp checkering and only the faintest of handling marks. Buttstock with 11/16" wood extension at butt. This gun is accompanied by a 1972 dated Savage Arms letter indicating orig LOP of 13-1/2" and without wood extension and butt pad that is what it would be today. Bores are excellent, near mirror. Ejectors are in time. Mechanics are crisp. Really a gorgeous, high-quality, very early Savage era X grade in excellent overall condition. 50594-10 JSL (6,000-10,000)
