ATTRACTIVE HIGH QUALITY FOX FE SPECIAL UPGRADE SHOTGUN. FOX SXS FE SPECIAL 3000 12 GA MODERN Cal. 12 ga. 2-5/8" Chambers. 28" Bbls with slightly raised, concave, matted rib are engraved "Krupp Fluid Steel Made By" "A. H. Fox Gun Co. Phila. Pa, U.S.A." on tops. There are 3-1/4" triangles of open scroll at breech ends that are gold inlaid with flying ducks on left, and quail on right. Case hardened action has engine turned water table stamped with patent dates, and gold inlaid "SPECIAL" and "F". SN is engraved. Action features non-automatic safety and nickel-plated dbl triggers. Action is engraved with near full coverage varying sized scroll within geometric borders surrounding flush gold inlaid canines; retriever (?) on left, setter (?) on right, and a fox in oval on bottom. "ANSLEY H. FOX" is in gold on scroll terminated riband on each side. Hinge pin is engraved with four gold squares, and a rose blossom is gold inlaid on top lever pivot. Trigger guard bow has vignette of gold inlaid flying duck. SN is on tang. Nicely streaked European walnut Philadelphia Fox capped pistol grip buttstock measures 14-1/2" over ribbed composition buttplate. Exceptionally well cut fancy pattern borderless checkering is on side panels and grip with fleur-di-lis intrusions. Grip checkering has sections separated by slim ribbons. Matching splinter ejector forend has Deeley type release. Bore diameter: left -.729, right - .731. Bore restrictions: left - .039 (full), right - .010 (IC). Wall thickness: left - .032, right - .030. Drop at heel: 2-3/8", drop at comb: 1-1/2". Cast: approx 1/4" off. Weight: 7 lbs. 2 oz. LOP: 14-1/2". PROVENANCE: Remarkable William Larkin Moore Private Estate Collection of Fine Sporting Arms. CONDITION: Excellent, as refurbished, retaining nearly all of its fine custom finishes on bbls and stocks. Color hardening of action is somewhat silvered or thin on trigger plate and bottom, and with some areas of darkening on sides and fences. Bores are very fine with some light scattered pitting, mostly in right bbl, and with evidence of dent removal about 10" from breech end of left. Action is tight. Bbls are on face.
