SPECTACULAR INVESTMENT QUALITY A.H. FOX DE GRADE SHOTGUN.A. H. FOXSxS DE1778012GAMODERN; C&R; IVORYCal. 12 ga. 28" bbls. 2-3/4" chambers. Full length matted top rib with ivory front bead. Marked on top of right bbl "KRUPP FLUID STEEL MADE BY" and on left "A.H. FOX GUN CO. PHILA PA". 3" scroll engraved wedge at breech. Water table and bbl flats with SN and grade designation noted. Dbl triggers, automatic ejectors, automatic safety. Rnd knob pistol grip stock is of fabulously figured European walnut with checkered side panels and checkered in 2-point pattern at wrist and nickel shield at toe. Orig lined HRBP. Splinter forend near fully checkered with engraved Deeley latch. First generation style engraved frame with quail in elongated oval on left and woodcock in right and marked "ANSLEY H. FOX" towards back of frame with well cut scroll engraving on sides, bottom of frame with 2 well executed setters in game scene surrounded by scroll and trigger plate which is near fully scroll engraved. Trigger guard bow is fully scroll engraved and SN noted at tang in ribband and lined wavy border pattern. Top of frame also near fully scroll engraved as are bbl fences and top lever. This gun is cased in a modern brown leather case with red felt lining and includes 2 nickel plated snap cap, oil bottle and cleaning implements. Bore diameter: left - .724, right - .724. Bore restrictions: left - .035 (full), right - .035 (full). Minimum wall thickness: left - .027, right - .029 . Weight: 6 lbs. 14 oz. Drop at comb: 1-5/8", drop at heel: 2-3/4". LOP: 14". CONDITION: Excellent as found. Bbls retain approximately 95% lightly toned orig blued finish. Engraving is sharp. Receiver retains 50-60% lightly toned orig case color, silvered on bottom of frame, darker on top and sides. Trigger guard bow retains approximately half of its orig blue toning at tang. Buttstock with great figure is excellent and orig with minor scratches and handling marks and retains most of its orig finish with later finish added for preservation, same with forearm and checkering lightly thinned on both. Mechanics are excellent. Gun is tight and on face. Case and accessories are excellent. Easily one of the nicest first generation engraved D.E.
