VERY FINE, CUSTOM, EXHIBITION TYPE, 20 GAUGE BROWNING SUPERPOSED SHOTGUN WITH FINE STOCK BY JACK HAUGH AND WONDERFUL FLUSH GOLD INLAY BY JIMMY NIXON, WITH CASE.BrowningOU Superposed34007v420gaMODERNCal. 20 ga. 3" Chambers. 28" Bbls have narrow, file cut, ventilated rib and St. Louis and Montreal addresses. Blued action features non-automatic safety and gold-plated well filed single selective trigger. Action is flush gold inlaid in "Exhibition" style with exceptionally well executed bands and tendrils of scroll surrounding very finely detailed flush gold game birds; pair of departing ruffed grouse on left side of action, and a pair of quail flying across right. A woodcock swoops across bottom of action. Scrolled inlay continues onto trigger guard. This fine work is signed "J. L. Nixon" on trigger plate. Beautifully marbled and lightly figured European walnut long tang round knob buttstock measures 14-1/4" over Browning embossed hard rubber buttplate, and features well cut "Midas" style checkering which wraps around grip and has flourishes into butt. Superlight style schnabled forend matches well. Bore diameter: top -.620, bottom - .620. Bore restrictions: top - .017 (mod), bottom - .009 (IC). Drop at heel: 2-1/8", drop at comb: 1-7/16". Cast: Approx 1/4" off. Weight: 6 lbs. 11 oz. LOP: 14-1/4". Brown vinyl Hartmann case is lined in faux fur, and contains instruction booklet in envelope, and some photographs of other work by Jimmy Nixon. PROVENANCE: Display card outlining work performed and craftsmen involved in the building of this fine custom shotgun, including "Paul Fuchs, now deceased, performed all the metal polish and rust bluing, including all interior action parts which are high polished similar to a "Midas" grade. Paul was formerly general manager of Brownings repair and restoration shop in St. Louis, MO." CONDITION: Excellent, near new, as custom finished. Gun has only the lightest of handling and assembly marks on all wood and metal finishes. Mechanically excellent. Case is excellent with a couple of spots, interior has some soiling. 50699-1 MGM127 (9,000-13,000)
