FINE 20 GAUGE CUSTOM BROWNING SUPERPOSED SHOTGUN WITH EXCEPTIONAL HIGH RELIEF GAME SCENE CARVING AND SUPERB STOCK WOOD. BROWNING OU SUPERPOSED CUSTOM EXHIBITION 42562V6 20 GA MODERN Cal. 20 ga. 3" Chambers. 26-1/2" Bbls with narrow, ventilated rib are marked with St. Louis and Montreal addresses on top left. Browning patents, etc. are on right. Left side of breech is marked for IC and mod chokes. Coin finished action features non-automatic safety and gold plated single selective trigger, and is engraved with very well cut Germanic large open scrolling acanthus with shaded background surrounding deep relief carved scenes of birds and dogs framed by flush scrolling gold wire inlay; a group of three mallards take wing from cattails while another two remain swimming on left side of action, and a pointer watches a trio of quail run and fly away on right. Bottom of action portrays a pheasant about to spring into the air. This fine custom work is reminiscent of that by Hans Obiltschnig, but no signature is found. Blued trigger guard with central oval on bow is gold inlaid with "V" surrounded by V-shaped scroll flourish. Intricately dark marbled and stump figured exhibition quality European walnut long tang round knob buttstock measures 14-1/2" over Browning embossed hard rubber buttplate. Point pattern checkering with double line borders is at grip. Well matched forend is of field type. Bore diameter: top -.623, bottom - .620. Bore restrictions: top - .013 (mod), bottom - .005 (IC). Drop at heel: 2-1/16", drop at comb: 1-7/16". Cast: approx 3/8" off. Weight: 6 lbs. 2 oz. LOP: 14-1/2". PROVENANCE: Remarkable William Larkin Moore Private Estate Collection of Fine Sporting Arms. CONDITION: Excellent, near new, as custom finished, with only a few light handling and assembly marks in all wood and metal finishes. Bores are excellent. Mechanics are excellent.
