EXCEPTIONALLY RARE AND DESIRABLE BROWNING "MIDAS" .410 SUPERLIGHT SHOTGUN ENGRAVED BY BODSON, WITH CASE. BROWNING SXS SUPERPOSED MIDAS 081J74 410 MODERN; IVORY Cal. 410. 26-1/4" Bbls are marked for modified and full, have Morgan Utah and Montreal PQ addresses, along with "MADE IN BELGIUM" on left side of very narrow matted ventilated rib. Small sized, rounded and blued, Superlight action is engraved in typical "Midas" style with large, open acanthus scroll surrounding gold inlaid vignettes of game birds within gold line borders; trio of pheasant on left, ducks on right, and quail on bottom of action. Bottom of rear of pheasant scene is signed "M Bodson". Beautifully flame crotch figured claro walnut straight grip Superlight buttstock measures 14-3/8" over composition Browning embossed buttplate. Checkering at grip is of typical "Midas" grade modified point pattern. Schnabeled Superlight one piece forend is of nicely streaked walnut. Bore diameter at muzzles: top -.383, bottom - .392. Drop at heel: 2-3/8", drop at comb: 1-5/16". Cast: approx 1/4" off. Weight: 6 lbs. 7 oz. LOP: 14-3/8". Brown vinyl Hartmann case is lined in faun fleece, and contains two keys. Ivory bead sight. PROVENANCE: Remarkable William Larkin Moore Private Estate Collection of Fine Sporting Arms. CONDITION: Excellent, near new, with only the faintest of handling and assembly marks on wood and metal.
