BROWNING SUPERPOSED "MIDAS" GRADE FIELD GUN ENGRAVED BY ANDRE DIERCKX. BROWNING OU SUPERPOSED MIDAS 20039S70 12 GA MODERN; IVORY Cal. 12 ga. 2-3/4" Chambers. 28" Bbls with ventilated rib are marked with St Louis and Montreal addresses on top left. Browning patents, etc. are on right. Left side of breech is marked for IC and full chokes. Blued action features non-automatic safety and gold plated single selective trigger. Action is engraved with well cut large open scroll with acanthus highlights in fine shaded background surrounding relief gold inlaid scenes of birds framed by flush scrolling gold wire inlay in typical "Midas" style; three pheasant are on left side of action, and ducks on right. A quail flies across bottom of action. This engraving and inlay is by Browning master engraver, Andre Dierckx, whose signature appears at bottom rear of both sides of action. Flame figured claro walnut short tang square knob buttstock measures 14-5/8" over open sided Browning white line pad. Checkering at grip is of typical "Midas" style with flourishes into butt. Nicely matching forend is of field type. Bore diameter: top -.727, bottom - .726. Bore restrictions: top - .043 (extra full), bottom - .013 (Lt mod). Drop at heel: 2-3/8", drop at comb: 1-7/16". Cast: approx 3/8" off. Weight: 7 lbs. 0 oz. LOP: 14-5/8". PROVENANCE: Remarkable William Larkin Moore Private Estate Collection of Fine Sporting Arms. CONDITION: Excellent, showing evidence of considerable field use, with some high edge wear and numerous marks and a few scratches in orig factory finishes, most notably a number of scratches behind forend iron, on bottom of action, and a number of marks in stocks, mostly on grip knob and along toe line of butt.
