UNUSUAL BROWNING SUPERPOSED "DIANA" GRADE SUPERLIGHT 20/ 28 GAUGE SHOTGUN SET WITH ENGRAVING BY LEWANCZYK AND CASE.BROWNING SUPERPOSEDOU DIANA299IV7328 & 20MODERN(1973) Cal. 20 ga. 3" Chambers and 28 ga. 2-3/4" chambers. Both 26-1/2" bbls have narrow, matted ventilated ribs and are marked with marked with Morgan Utah and Montreal PQ addresses. Rear sides of bbls are stamped with SNs and "1" or "2". 20 ga set "1" are marked for chokes "skeet and IMod", and 28 ga set "2" are marked for "IC and Mod". Typical coin finished, superposed action squared at bottom rear portion, is engraved with nearly full coverage large strap work scroll with acanthus highlights surrounding vignettes of game birds; pheasants on left, ducks on right, and grouse on bottom, in usual "Diana" style. Engraving on this gun is signed "Lewanczyk" at bottom rear of duck scene. Trigger guard is engraved with a pair of rabbits. Very fine, crotch figured claro walnut straight grip Superlight buttstock measures 14-1/4" over dark brown leather covered pad. Modified point pattern checkering is at grip. A gold oval on toe line is engraved "CGV". Each bbl set has its own Superlight type schnabeled forend, that match well. 20 GA BBL SET "1": Bore diameter: top -.620, bottom - .623. Bore restrictions: top - .021 (Imod), bottom - .006 (IC). Drop at heel: 2-3/8", drop at comb: 1-1/2". Cast: Neutral. Weight: 6 lbs. 2 oz. LOP: 14-1/4". 28 GA BBL SET "2": Bore diameter: top -.552, bottom - .548. Bore restrictions: top - .022 (full), bottom - .012 (mod). Drop at heel: 2-3/8", drop at comb: 1-1/2". Cast: Neutral. Weight: 6 lbs. 9 oz. LOP: 14-1/4". Hartmann case with space for action and two bbls, is lined in faux fur. PROVENANCE: Remarkable William Larkin Moore Private Estate Collection of Fine Sporting Arms. CONDITION: Excellent, with only a few very light handling and assembly marks in all wood and metal finishes; most notably dulling of coin finish on trigger guard tang. Checkering on grip is darkening, still light on both forends. Checkering on forend of 20 ga bbls, is missing many diamonds. Mechanically crisp. Case is excellent with some light rubs. Interior is very lightly soiled from bbls. 50594-112 mgm90 (10,000-15,000)
