FINE WINCHESTER CUSTOM MODEL 21 FOUR BARREL SET BY PAUL JAEGER WITH EXTRA STOCKS AND CASE. WINCHESTER SXS 21 CUSTOM 4210 12GA MODERN; C&R; IVORY Cal. 12 ga. This interesting, high quality, custom set, features four pairs of 26" bbls choked skeet and skeet, IC and mod, mod and mod, and full and full. Each bbl set has narrow, matted ribs and 2-3/4" areas of exceptionally well cut open shaded scrolling acanthus at breech ends. Each bbl set is stamped with SN on flats and is marked with chokes and "WINCHESTER PROOF STEEL". Each bbl has ivory bead sights. Blued action with standard frame has patent and makers marks on water table. Action features non-automatic safety and blued, non-selective single trigger and is engraved with 100% coverage scrolling acanthus matching that on bbls, which surrounds exceptionally well rendered relief gold inlaid game scenes in nicely detailed backgrounds. A trio of mallards are in marsh on left side of action, and a pointer points a pair of rising pheasant on right. Trigger guard has more acanthus scroll. Nicely fiddle figured and smoky marbled European walnut horn capped pistol grip buttstock measures 14-1/4" over open sided Pachmayr white line pad. Checkering is of 21-B style with fleur-di-lis and ribbons through pattern. Bbls are fitted with two different forends, one beavertail with brace, and another splinter type. Bbls appear to be choked as marked. Drop at heel: 2", drop at comb: 1-7/16". Weight with beavertail forend: 7 lbs. 2 oz. LOP: 14-1/4". Old leather case with stitched leather corners is lined in purple cloth and has Winchester black leather label in lid. There is space for action and all four sets of bbls. Case contains A & F marked oil bottle and snap caps, as well as cleaning equipment. Also included is a straight grip buttstock with solid Winchester pad with trigger guard engraved en suite with remainder of gun, along with a large beavertail forend and another splinter forend, all with factory type standard checkering. PROVENANCE: Cody Firearms Records Office information confirming 26" IC and Mod as well as full and full bbls (1945), straight grip stock, and beavertail forend with final inspection date of Dec 20 1934, with other dates listed, July 9, 1946 and Jan 10, 1950. And that it was made for Paul Young. CONDITION: Excellent, as custom finished. Bbls retain nearly all of their re-blue with a few light marks. Action retains 85 - 90% of its blue, silvered from normal hand wear, on bottom and left side, with high edge wear elsewhere. Stocks retain nearly all of their finish with numerous scratches and marks. Checkering is lightly worn. Bores are excellent. Action is tight. Mechanically excellent. Case leather has considerably darkened and has many stains, marks and rubs. Interior cloth has compressions and rubs. Accessories are good. Spare stocks are excellent.
