CLAMSHELL ACTION DANGEROUS GAME DOUBLE RIFLE BY H. BARELLA WITH CASE.H. BARELLABOX LOCK DBL RIFLE25672475 NO. 2MODERN; C&RCal. .475 no. 2. 25-1/8" Chopper lump bbls fitted with raised, flat, matted rib holding one standing leaf rear and silver bead front sights have makers name on top of right bbl. Bbl flats are stamped with imperial German proofs with a date of 1/30, and Birmingham nitro proofs for .475 #2. Bottoms of bbls are stamped "KRUPP LAUFSTAHL". Bottom rib is marked with importers name and address. A wide sling loop is screwed to bottom rib. Robust scalloped boxlock clamshell reinforced action features non-automatic safety, pin type cocking indicators, square crossbolt third fastener, and dbl triggers (front articulated). Action is engraved with about 30% coverage sprays of scroll within line and geometric borders. Dense, well fiddle figured European walnut round knob pistol grip buttstock measures 14-3/4" over Silver type pad. Point pattern checkering is at grip. Side panels are checkered. Matching splinter forend has Deeley release. Drop at heel: approx 3", drop at comb: approx 1-3/4". Weight: 12 lbs. 7 oz. LOP: 14-3/4". Tan canvas case with leather trim is lined in brown felt. CONDITION: Good, as partially refinished. Bbls retain nearly all of an old re-black, rib and details considerably softened. Action is cleaned to silver gray over some light pitting. Stocks retain nearly all of an old hand rubbed oil finish with some light subsequent marks, checkering re-cut. Bores are good, strong rifling, dark in grooves. Action is fairly tight.
