ARMY & NAVY .577 NITRO BOXLOCK EJECTOR DOUBLE RIFLE WITH CASE. ARMY & NAVY BOXLOCK DBL RIFLE 55020 577 3 MODERN; C&R (ca 1908) Cal. .577 3" Nitro. 26" Dovetailed bbls are fitted with quarter rib holding one standing, two folding leaf express rear sight, and matching front base holding silver bead. Rear portions are engraved ".577 Nitro Express" "750 Gn. Bullet 100 Gn. Cordite". Rear portion of rib with square shouldered dolls head extension is engraved "Regulated for 50 Yds". Bbl flats are stamped with 1984 Birmingham nitro proofs for load enumerated on bbls. Case hardened PHV-1 boxlock action features non-automatic safety (SAFE inlaid in gold), pivoting third fastener, and dbl triggers (front "loose"). Action is engraved with 70% coverage well cut large shaded scroll. Makers name is on both sides. Blued top lever, floorplate, and trigger guard have scroll to match. Trigger guard has SN on tang which extends to case hardened grip cap. Finely made, correctly styled, replacement buttstock is of dense well figured and nicely streaked European walnut, and measures 15-1/4" over Silver type pad. Stock features right hand shadow line cheekpiece, standard grip checkering, and a vacant silver oval along with a sling eye matching that soldered to bottom of bbls, on toe line. Butt has been weighted to give balance point about 3" in front of front trigger. Matching splinter ejector forend has forward pivoting lever release. Drop at heel: approx 3", drop at comb: approx 1-7/8". Neutral cast. Weight: 11 lbs. 15 oz. LOP: 15-1/4". Green canvas leather trimmed case by Brady is lined in burgundy cloth and has reproduction makers label in lid. Case contains 2-pc walnut and brass cleaning rod, pair of unmarked snap caps, a box of old Kynoch solids, and a box of 5 new Kynoch soft nose. CONDITION: Excellent, as completely refurbished, retaining nearly all fine British quality finishes on new bbls, re-engraved action, newly made stocks with only a few light subsequent handling marks. Bores are excellent. Action is tight. Ejectors are strong and in time. New case is excellent, with some rubs. Interior is excellent, with some compressions.
