ALEXANDER HENRY SINGLE SHOT DROPPING BLOCK RIFLE WITH LEFT HAND LOCK.ALEXANDER HENRYSS RIFLE2458450 3 1/4Cal. 450 3-1/4. 28" Tapered round bbl is fitted with one standing, one folding express rear, and silver bead front sights in small island blocks. Top of bbl is engraved "Alexr Henry 12 South St Andrew St Edinburgh Patent No 1728" (Rifling use number). Typical action with left hand peninsula crank back lock mounted with tall serpentine hammer and back sliding safety is engraved with near full coverage large open scroll on action and smaller shaded scroll on lock. "ALEXr HENRY" is on riband at rear of lockplate. Action patent use no. "567" is on receiver ring. Steel trigger guard has SN on tang. Nicely streaked European walnut horn capped pistol grip buttstock measures 14-1/8" over coarsely checkered steel buttplate with trap. Trap contains rosewood handled striker key. Stock features usual point pattern checkering at grip and a silver oval on toe line engraved with an indecipherable monogram. Matching slim forend with Alexander Henry groove at tip, attaches to bbl with sliding side bolt through shaped steel escutcheons. Drop at heel: approx 2-11/16", drop at comb: approx 2". Weight: 7 lbs. 11oz. LOP: 14-1/8". CONDITION: Good, has not been refinished. Metal parts retain gray to brown patina with traces of orig finish. Stocks have considerable wear, and most of what appears to be orig finish, with numerous marks, scratches, and bumps. Bore is good to fine with scattered pitting, mostly shiny, needs cleaning. Lock is excellent. Right hand users prefer scarcer left hand lock Henry's for ease of loading. 51693-3 MGM187 (5,000-8,000)
