HUGE (7 FRAME) 8 GAUGE PARKER "G" GRADE HAMMER GUN IN HIGH ORIGINAL CONDITION. PARKER SXS 86453 8 GA Cal. 8 ga. 7 Frame. 3-1/2" Chambers. 36" Fine Damascus bbls are marked with Parker Meriden address and "DAMASCUS STEEL" on rib. Bbl flats and lumps have all correct markings with a weight of "9 14". Robust fishtail top lever action with standard rebounding locks has all correct patents and grade markings on water table, and features later reinforced frame and check hook. Action and locks are engraved in attractive "G" style with sprays of scroll and simple bird scenes on locks and bottom of action. Dense American walnut capped pistol grip buttstock measures 14-1/4" over large Parker dogs head buttplate, and standard point pattern checkering and vacant silver shield are at grip. Matching splinter forend with steel tip has patent date on typical release. Bore restrictions: left - .110 (full), right - .106 (full). Wall thickness: left - .088, right - .078. Drop at heel: 3-3/8", drop at comb: 2-1/16". Weight: 14 lbs. 8 oz. LOP: 14-1/4". This gun is not listed in PARKER GUN IDENTIFICATION & SERIALIZATION ledger. PROVENANCE: Factory letter confirming specifications and stating it was ordered on May 25, 1897. CONDITION: Excellent. Bbls retain approx 90% orig Damascus finish thinning slightly on sides and silvering on sharp edges. Locks retain nearly all of their original bold case colors. Action retains more than a third of its orig case hardening color lightly grayed and browned on bottom, but quite strong on trigger plate. Trigger guard has strong traces of orig blue on bow, considerably flaked. Stocks retain approx 85% of their orig finish, worn through from normal hand wear at grip and forend. Checkering lightly worn. Bores are excellent. Action is tight. Locks are excellent. A superb late built big bore Parker. Virtually never found with this high level of condition due to normal use being in salty and wet environments. Perhaps the second best conditioned 8 Gauge Parker we've handled in the past 20 years. 51611-1 MGM171 (20,000-30,000)
