FINE PARKER "DHE" SHOTGUN WITH UNUSUAL TRANSITIONAL RIB MARKINGS. PARKER BROS SXS DHE 241016 20 GA MODERN; C&R Cal. 20 ga. 2-3/4" Chambers. 0 Frame. 30" Bbls are marked "PARKER MERIDEN. CON. U.S.A." on matted rib. Steel type is not specified on rib or on bbl flats, which are stamped with Ilion date code "DF" (Sept '37), and repair code "PG" (June '38). All other marks are correct. Case hardened action with all correct Parker markings on water table, features automatic safety and dbl triggers. It is engraved in late "D" style with 80% coverage varying sized scroll surrounding vignettes of dogs and game; pointer on left, setter on right, and quail on the trigger plate. "PARKER" is engraved on bottom of action. Trigger guard with scroll on bow, has SN on tang. Fine crotch figured American walnut Parker Meriden capped pistol grip buttstock measures 14" over skeleton steel buttplate. Stock has usual "D" style side panels with lozenge shaped drop points, and point pattern checkering. A vacant silver oval is on toe line. Typical splinter ejector forend has steel tip and usual release. This gun matches all specifications as listed in the PARKER GUN IDENTIFICATION & SERIALIZATION ledger. Bore diameter: left -.619, right - .617. Bore restrictions: left - .024 (full), right - .023 (full). Wall thickness: left - .022, right - .022. Drop at heel: 2-1/2", drop at comb: 1-5/8". Cast: Neutral. Weight: 6 lbs. 12 oz. LOP: 14". PROVENANCE: Ex William Larkin Moore Collection. CONDITION: Excellent, original. Bbls retain approx 90% of what appears to be orig blue, as may have been applied at repair date, sides somewhat spotted, and with a few marks. Action retains approx 70% orig case hardening color, quite vivid on right side and trigger plate, silvered on fences and beads, and thinning on bottom. Blue of trigger guard mostly flaked to about 10%, silvered at grip. Color on forend latch completely silver. Plating on triggers is excellent. Stocks retain over 90% of their wonderful orig finish, slightly alligatored and crazed on butt, worn through on sharp edges of comb. Checkering is very lightly worn, still relatively light in color. There is a small repaired crack running from trigger guard screw back into checkering on left side. Bores are excellent. Action is tight. Ejectors are in time. A fine little long barreled small bore DHE, with only about 330 estimated made in this caliber, gauge, and bbl length. 51497-3 MGM145 (10,000-15,000)
