GORGEOUS AS FOUND LEFEVER CE GRADE SHOTGUN.LEFEVERCE5400312GAMODERN; C&R; ESACal. 12ga. 30" Krupp fluid steel bbls, 2-3/4" Cham. Full length matted rib with twin ivory beads, tops of bbls marked on right tube "LeFever Arms Co. Krupp" and left tube "Steel Syracuse. N.Y. U.S.A." Bbls are scalloped with typical LeFever butterfly ellipses. Water table marked with SN and grade designation "C". Nickel plated double triggers, auto ejectors, auto safety. Capped full pistol grip buttstock with ebony insert behind lockplates and nickel oval near toe, beautifully figured French walnut. Splinter forearm with beautiful engraved clam shell opener and steel tip. Receiver is tastefully engraved with two setters on right, two pointers left in game scene surrounded by LeFever's elegant light scroll engraving. Top of action engraved in typical C pattern. Back of top tang with engraved screws and set screw behind safety. Bottom of frame tastefully scroll engraved as are scalloped butterfly wings. Trigger guard engraved with two ducks in marsh scene and SN at tang. Forearm checkered in 3-point pattern as is buttstock with tasteful wave panel towards comb. No patent dates noted at front of trigger guard plate as is often seen though appears orig and untouched. Bore diameter: left - .730, right - .743. Bore restrictions: left - .035 (full), right - .034 (full). Minimum wall thickness: left - .038, right - .030 . Weight: 7 lbs. 10 oz. Drop at comb: 1-5/8", drop at heel: 2-7/16". LOP: 14-1/8". PROVENANCE: Private single owner advanced LeFever Collection. CONDITION: Excellent as found. Bbls retain 85-90% toned ancient restored rust blue with a couple of small areas of minor touch up on bbl flats and near hook. Bores are near excellent with minor polish marks. Receiver retains 60-70% thinning case color, stronger on sideplates, toned on bottom and at trigger guard. Left lockplate is particularly vibrant. Buttstock is excellent and retains most of its orig varnish with scattered handling marks and light scratches throughout. Right stock finger shows an old repair near front trigger. Left stock finger with tiny repair on bottom at frame, beginning separation on left side of top tang. Orig silvers type recoil pad has hardened and crackled. A beautiful and shootable as found LeFever CE Grade. 51495-1 JSL (7,000-11,000)
