PRUSSIAN 1ST KURASSIER (LEIB) REGIMENT OFFICER'S HELMET MODEL 1899 AFTER 1902. HELMET HAS BEEN CONSTRUCTED USING BOTH GENUINE AND REPLACEMENT PARTS.

Nickeled steel "Lobster Tail" officers helmet with Gilt trim. Helmet body is original and in good condition Metal helmet has good form and no dents or damage to exterior finish. No extra holes in helmet body. Helmet interior is a replacement and has tan sweat leather and silk liner. Inner back visor covered in black velvet. Inner front visor covered with green leather. Authenticity of frontplate is questionable. It is the Prussian Frederick the Great style eagle with the banner on the above the eagles head reading "Pro Gloria et Patria". Genuine Kurassier style gilt crossed spike base with fluted silver spike Kurassier officer spike. Chinscales appear to be replaced. The color of the metal scales and cloverleaf rosette do not match the rest of the metal trim. Special cockades are modern replacements. Frontplate, chinscales and cockades are unique to this regiment. Extremely rare regimental helmet. SIZE: PROVENANCE: The Doug Buhler Collection of Rare and Spectacular German Imperial Headgear and Pickelhauben. CONDITION: This must be considered a "parts" helmet. Good condition inside and out. Helmet body is bright with only age related toning to finish. 51585-7 RT (2,000-3,000)
