PRUSSIAN GUARD MELDEREITER OFFICERS HELMET MODEL 1899 USED UNTIL 1904. THIS HELMET IS A REPLICA MADE OF BOTH ORIGINAL AND REPRODUCTION PARTS.Blued (anodized) steel “Lobster Tail” enlisted style Jaeger zu Pferde helmet body with Silver trim and gold chinscales. Enlisted style helmet body has been reconditioned. Blued gray colored helmet body good condition with good form and no dents or damage to exterior finish. There are extra holes (elongated for EM style frontplate) in helmet body. Inside helmet dome is stamped with makers name. Helmet interior has replaced tan sweat leather and tan silk liner. Inner front and back visor covered with tan leather. Genuine large rounded gold chin scales are a bit short and ride high. Officer style cloverleaf rosettes over Reichs a Prussian 2 piece officer cockades. Original silver cloverleaf spike base with fluted trichter for parade plume. Plume is white buffalo hair. Base secured to helmet body with rounded studs. Guard officer frontplate is a modern replacement. It is in the form of the Prussian Guard Star, a large silver star of the Prussian Order of the Black Eagle with banner with a colored enamel center. This helmet is representative of an extremely rare unit and was only used for about 5 years. SIZE: PROVENANCE: The Doug Buhler Collection of Rare and Spectacular German Imperial Headgear and Pickelhauben. CONDITION: Replica helmet made from real and reproduced parts.
