IMPRESSIVE M1910 DREYSE ARMEEPISTOLE IN 9MM PARABELLUM. DREYSE 1910 1396 9MM MODERN; C&R Cal. 9mm. Standard large frame Dreyse, blowback, with 5-1/2" bbl having fixed front and rear sight. Left side of frame marked with 2-line address "Rheinische Metallwaaren-& Maschinenfabrik / ABT. SOMMERDA." In the recess is a section in the white where presumed police markings were removed before the pistol was decommissioned. Stacked Crown/N proofs are on the slide, bbl housing and frame. SN 1396 is stamped internally under the coverplate and slide. "DREYSE" is on the right side of the frame. Major parts of the pistol are rust blued. Extractor and pins originally strawed. Molded hard rubber grips have an encircled "RMF" logo over bordered checkering. Orig police marked mag with a split tail base marked "169.II." PROVENANCE: The Esteemed Collection Of Noted Expert And Author Warren Buxton. CONDITION: Approximately 75-80% orig matte finish with moderate holster wear and thinning of straps from service use. Faded straw on the extractor with the exposed surfaces of the pins having faded and polished. Rust blue on magazine commensurate with condition of pistol. Orig, near excellent grips. Slightly dull bore with strong rifling. Perfect manual mechanics. A large and very impressive early automatic pistol, production estimated at fewer than 1,000 guns, seldom offered for sale. 51568-37 LMA (4,000-6,000)
