MAUSER C96, CONEHAMMER, EARLIEST STANDARD PRODUCTION, WITH CASE. MAUSER C96 CONE HAMMER 602 7.63 MAUSER Cal. 7.63 mm. Standard configuration Conehammer with non-reinforced bbl extension, having 5.5" bbl, fixed front sight and pinned 1-10 rear sight. Long extractor, independently retained firing pin. Usual address over chamber. Crown/Crown U proof on left of bbl extension. Unmarked frame except for SN on backstrap under locking lever. Walnut serrated grips. Lanyard ring present. Major components rust blued. Extractor, parts of rear sight, bolt stop, firing pin retainer, safety and grip screw fire blued. Grayed hammer, strawed trigger. Full SN or last few digits repeated on sight bar and cursor, firing pin retainer, firing pin, bolt, follower, floorplate, sub-frame and usual components, locking block and grips. Inner surface of grips also marked with a scripted "A". Complete with an attache carrying case, bound in light brown suede leather, internally lined with luxurious fabric and secured by two brass clasps. Pair of keys retained by a suede tab. PROVENANCE: The Friedrich-Wilhelm Dauphin Collection - Germany. CONDITION: Approximately 98% restored rust blue. All fired blue parts enhanced, several of which have some brown oxidative toning. Hammer slightly dark. Trigger retains nearly all of its bright re-strawed color. Dark grips with re-cut serrations. Dull bore with shallow rifling. Perfect manual mechanics. An extremely early Conehammer, one of the first few hundred to have been made after transitioning away from the "System Mauser" pistols with the desireable non-reinforced bbl extension.
