FABULOUS WALTHER P38, ENGRAVED WITH IVORY GRIPS, FACTORY CASED. WALTHER P38 22482E 9MM MODERN; C&R; ESA Cal. 9 mm. Beautiful blue engraved P38 in standard configuration with 5" bbl, having a drift adjustable front sight and fixed rear sight. Left side of slide with Walther banner followed by usual 2-line legend detailing model and Cal. Safety detentes marked "S" (white) and "F" (red). Right side of slide dated 4/63, that is several years earlier than the proofing "66" marked on the left side of the trigger guard just below the full SN. Eagle/N proofing under bbl. Extraordinary oak leaf and acorn engraving pattern lavishly applied to the entire surface of the slide with cross hatching over the forward bridge. Light jeweling applied to each side of the trigger, hammer, and the transfer bar. Fine checkering on frontstrap. Luxury accentuated by the smooth ivory grips. Complete with two blued, brightly polished magazines. Each marked with the Walther banner. One is additionally marked "P1 9mm" and dated "12/63" on the spine, the other "P38 9mm". Presented in a factory blue leather bound hard shell case. Silk lined lid marked with Walther banner. Base trimmed in cord and compartmentalized for pistol and spare magazine. PROVENANCE: The Esteemed Collection Of Noted Expert And Author Warren Buxton. CONDITION: Pistol presents in near new condition with only the most minute handling wear, largely relegated to some slight thinning of the pointed checkering on the frontstrap. Ivory grips are superb with no discernible chips or cracks. Similar condition magazines. Mirror bore. Perfect manual mechanics. Case is excellent with minor interior losses where in contact with the pistol, particularly around the front sight. An extraordinary piece of workmanship, sure to please any collector. 51568-48 LMA (3,000-5,000)
