Accompanied by 2 reproduction tools used to adjust head space and fit of the device into the receiver of a rifle. The Pedersen device was designed and ordered by the U.S. Army to enable a soldier to convert his 1903 bolt action rifle into a semi-automatic rifle by simply changing the device for the bolt and installing a loaded magazine. Over 100,000 of these devices were ordered but by the time about 65,000 had been produced the war had ended and production ceased. All of the completed units, magazines & accessories were placed in storage. They were later tested and rejected by the services and in the 1930s the vast majority of the devices & accessories were destroyed. Very few survive today and spare magazines are practically unknown. SIZE: CONDITION: Magazine retains about 85-90% orig finish showing high point wear. Tools are new. 51685-6 JRL (2,000-4,000)
