Standard grade rifle with 24-1/4" oct bbl, full magazine, standard front sight and 2-position fliprear sight graduated to 500 yards. Top flat of bbl has the Henry & King patent address. Bottom of stock has an orig factory sling swivel and the forend cap a replacement brass swivel. Receiver has a 1/8" hole drilled in the top front flats that correspond exactly with the extractor retaining pin. Apparently an early owner had a broken extractor and drilled the holes to accommodate changing the extractor without disassembling the rifle. Top tang channel of buttstock & inside toe of buttplate are marked with last 3-digits of matching SN. This rifle was produced about 1869. CONDITION: Fine, all matching. Bbl & magazine tube retain an overall dark brown patina with a few scattered spots of pin-prick pitting. Receiver & side plates have been cleaned and polished with lightly rounded edges. Buttstock is missing a large chip by the toe, has a hairline in the right wrist and a repaired large sliver in the left wrist, otherwise wood is sound with an old restored finish. Mechanics are fine, strong bright bore with scattered pitting. 51379-3 JRL (3,500-5,000)
