WINCHESTER FOURTH MODEL 1866 ROUND BARREL FULL MAGAZINE RIFLE WITH BRASS CRESCENT BUTTPLATEWINCHESTER186611402744 R.F.Cal. 44 R.F. 24" rnd bbl. Full magazine. Rocky Mountain blade front sight. Sporting rear sight. Straight grain American walnut stocks with crescent buttplate. CONDITION: Good to very good. Bbl and magazine tube show a deep plum brown patina overall with some traces of blue on magazine. Bbl address is light but readable. Sights are good. Bore is dark with strong rifling. Gun metal receiver was cleaned long ago with some of the edges slightly rounded and is drifting back to a pleasant mustard yellow patina. Tang mark is sharp and clear. Lower tang screw is broken. Hammer and lever both show deep brown patina. Stocks are very good, full sized with mars and dents commensurate with the age of the rifle. There are some white paint stains on the left side from hanging on a wall. Buttplate has also been lightly cleaned and is developing its own mustard yellow patina. Steel forend cap is a deep gray brown patina. A nice example of a 1866 rifle that obviously hung on a wall for many years. 51726-1 TEP (2,750-3,000)
