WINCHESTER FIRST MODEL 1873 RIFLE.WINCHESTER1873 RIFLE140144WCFCal. .44 WCF. 24" rnd bbl, full mag, blue finish, raised thumbprint dust cover, straight grained American walnut stocks with crescent butt. CONDITION: Very good for this model. Bbl and mag tube show a mottle plum/brown patina overall with some roughness towards the muzzle. Sporting sights are very good. Bbl address is sharp and clear. Bore is dark with visible rifling. Receiver is a dark plum/brown patina overall with slight traces of blue around the side plates. Elevator is a mustard/brown patina with a few dents. Dust cover is missing front screw preventing proper operation, making action bind. Thumbprint is very good and sharp. Tang markings are sharp and clear. Hammer and lever are smooth brown patina. Stocks are very good, shows signs of light cleaning, buttstock is missing a chip at the rear of top tang. Stocks have minor dents and scratches overall. Buttplate and forend cap are also a smooth plum/brown patina. An opportunity to obtain a hard to find example of an early first model '73 with a raised thumbprint dust cover. 51379-9 TEP (4,000-6,000)
