SCARCE WINCHESTER MODEL 1873 SMALL BORE LEVER ACTION RIFLE. WINCHESTER 1873 202102B 22 SHORT Cal 22 Short. Standard grade rifle with 24-3/8" oct bbl, full magazine, half nickel front sight & semi-buckhorn rear sight. Mounted with uncheckered straight grain American walnut with straight stock and crescent buttplate without trap. This model was the first successful repeating .22 cal rifle manufactured in the U.S. There were about 19,500 of them produced 1884-1904. CONDITION: Fine. Bbl retains about 60-70% orig blue turning plum. Magazine tube retains about 80% orig blue also turning a little plum. Inside magazine is orig & functional. Receiver & side plates retain about 75% thinning orig blue. Lever & hammer retain traces of orig case colors. Stock has a few minor nicks & dings and retains about 80% orig finish. Forearm shows a hand worn patina. Extractor is missing which precludes the dust cover retracting with the bolt, otherwise mechanics are fine, worn dark bore. 51138-38 JRL (3,000-5,000)
