WINCHESTER FIRST MODEL 1873 SADDLE RING CARBINE.WINCHESTER1873 SRC1440444WCFCal. .44 WCF. 20" bbl, full mag, saddle ring attached, long oval checkered thumbprint dust cover, blue finish, straight grained American walnut stocks with carbine butt. CONDITION: Very good for this model. Bbl and mag tube show a mottled gray/brown patina overall with some erosion on the right side in front of the forend. Sights are good. Bbl marking is clear. Bore is dark with visible rifling. Receiver is also a mottled gray/brown patina with some erosion on the right side. Elevator is a mustard/brown patina. Hammer and lever are a gray/brown patina. Tang markings are clear. Stocks are good, slightly undersized, and have been cleaned. Buttstock shows erosion around tang and buttplate. Buttplate is gray/brown patina with erosion at heel and toe. Bbl bands are gray/brown patina. A good example of an early first model 73 Winchester carbine from the era when they were issued to the Frontier Battalion of the Texas Rangers. 51379-15 TEP (3,000-4,000)
