LOT OF TWO WINCHESTER LEVER ACTION MUSKETS - MODEL 1873 AND MODEL 1866.WINCHESTER187337088744RFCal 44 WCF (44-40). Standard 1873 musket with 30" rnd bbl, full magazine, barleycorn front sight/bayonet lug and 1000 yard musket ladder rear sight. Mounted with uncheckered American walnut with full length forearm and straight stock with steel carbine/musket buttplate & trap. Accompanied by an orig triangular socket bayonet without scabbard. CONDITION: Good. No orig finish remains being an overall crusty brown patina on the bbl and top of the receiver. Sides of the receiver & side plates have been lightly cleaned. All the metal surfaces have fine pitting. Wood is sound with numerous nicks, dings & scratches and a few gouges and shows a dark hand-worn patina. Mechanics are fine, bright shiny bore. Bayonet is probably bright under the crusty smoke & soot. 51138-15 JRL (2,000-3,000)
WINCHESTER 1866 40805 44RF Cal 44 CF. Standard Model '66 musket with 27" rnd bbl, 7/8 magazine, square base front sight/bayonet lug, missing rear sight. Mounted with uncheckered American walnut with 3/4 forearm and straight stock with brass carbine/musket buttplate. Accompanied by an original socket bayonet that 15-1/2" without scabbard. CONDITION: Fair to good. No orig finish remains with the bbl, magazine tube, bbl bands, lever & hammer and crusty dark brown patina under a layer of heavy soot or smoke. Receiver shows moderate to heavy wear on the edges with file marks on right side and nicks & scratches elsewhere. Buttstock has a large repair around the top tang otherwise wood is sound with a dark hand-worn patina. Tip of lever lock extension may have been shortened. Bayonet appears to be bright & shiny under a heavy coating of dark soot or smoke. Mechanics are functional, bright shiny bore. 51138-16 JRL (1,000-1,500)
