WINCHESTER MODEL 1885 HI-WALL SINGLE SHOT RIFLE WITH CASE COLORED FINISH.WINCHESTERHI-WALL4128725WCFCal. .25 WCF. 28" half rnd, half oct NO. 1 bbl, Lyman patent front sight, Buckhorn rear sight, adjustable tang sight, blue and case colored finish, straight grained American walnut stocks, crescent buttplate, Schnabel forend with ebony insert. This rifle was sold by another auction company in 2006, their description stated that it lettered as a full oct NO. 1 bbl. It was represented by them as factory orig with a mistake made in the ledger. CONDITION: Very fine. Bbl retains 95% blue finish that is drifting to a pleasing plum patina towards the muzzle. Sights are very good. Bbl markings are sharp. Bore is bright with sharp rifling. Receiver retains 95% vivid case color with slight staining on lower tang. Lever has a silver/gray patina blending to vivid case color in protected areas. Hammer also shows vivid case color in protected areas. Tang sight retains nearly all of the blue finish. Stocks are about fine, and retain most of the orig varnish finish with only some slight scratches and dents overall. Buttplate shows 95% case colored finish with a few spots of erosion on the tang and toe. Rifle appears to be absolutely factory orig to this cataloger.
